The Evolution of Christmas

The meaning of Christmas has changed over the years. Instead of a dry three-page essay on the (d)evolution of Christmas, here's a simple three-point illustration.

Big Bang (1AD-ca.1700AD)
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have life everlasting." (John 3:16)

Reptilian Age (1700AD-2000AD)
"Give some, take some. Be nice, take more."

Homo Modernicus (2000AD--?)

calysitThat's precisely ... the greed.
This open mouth is lika a hole of nothingness ...

Natus est Dominus! Spe salvi!

I read your comment over and over again, trying to understand what "calysit" was. (Hmm...is it Homer? Pindar? Aeschylus?) Then I read your email where you explained that you accidentally typed in the verification word. ;-)

Nothingness. There's a part in all of us that would prefer Nothingness to ... whatever the other thing is. Real life? Purification? Virtue? These are all more difficult than Nothingness.

Mindaugas, have a blessed Christ-mas time! He's the Reason for the Season, as YOU know well enough.

FP, Jason

I have been thinking about the meaning of Christmas. There is no such.

The feast is called Nativitas Domini nostri Iesu Christi.

The birth of the life in grace, his grace in us - this is the sole meaningful reality for us.
